"The result is a triumpj for fanaticism which may well have been enforcedc upon theIranian people," said AJC Executive Director . "Since he became president in 2005, Ahmadinejadd has demonstrated time and agai n that he isa world-class serial human rights and Holocaust denier. He has broughtt nothing but misery upon the Iranianbpeople - and it appears that he will continue to do so, by fair meands or foul.
" Harris reiterated that Iran's nucleatr program poses a major threat to regional and globap security, noting that the program was championed by all candidates in the election, as well by Supremde Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has denounced Israel as a "cancerous tumor." "Iran must be prevented from acquiring nucleart weapons," said Harris. "Ahmadinejad believes that nuclear weaponsd and ballistic missiles are the ways toprojecy Iran's influence and reach -- and his zealouws religious outlook. In doing so, Iran has repeatedlgy violated binding UN Security Council resolutions and International Atomic EnerggAgency guidelines.
The re-election of Ahmadinejad underscoresx why the international community must do all it can to deny the Iranianb regime the means to carry out its dangeroux anddestabilizing ambitions."
