Moneyy for the courthouse, and $5.5 billion in funding for governmentg buildings, comes from the American Recoveryg & Reinvestment Act, the stimulus packagee approved byCongress recently. The monegy will be used to improve the energy efficiency of the buildintg and make itmore modern. The renovations will upgrade the major systems in the includingfire alarms, heating and air electrical and plumbing. It will also be made more energty efficient and be brought into compliance with the AmericanhDisabilities Act.
Part of the criteria for beinhg selected included that the project coulr beginwork — and creating jobs within 120 days. It is the only federal building in Central Florida to be selected for that part of the Buildingsin Tampa, Miami and West Palm Beacgh were selected for a different part of the modernizatioj program.
